1960s black patent vinyl box purse with brass hardware MOD top handle handbag
Vintage 1960s black patent vinyl box purse with oversized brass closure. Although, box purses have been around for hundreds of years, Enid Collins of Texas, started the craze in the 60s when she launched her Wooden Box Bag. Her purses were pricey and coveted. This made box top handle handbag extremely popular. Other designers started to create their own. This box bag has a unique elongated octagonal shaped vinyl box with a lid and large brass like closure. Clasp opens up to reveal a very clean vinylized cardboard interior. This handbag is in very good condition with normal light vintage wear. Please refer to the last two photos and the Condition section below. I would rate it a 9 out of 10 given it is 64 years old.
